This document outlines what is new with MIL for the IEEE 1394 IIDC driver and
explains the current limitations and particularities when using MIL with:

- Matrox Concord F-Series
- Third-party IEEE 1394 adaptors

It also presents last minute hardware-specific information that did not make it
into the manuals or on-line help. Note that this text file serves to complement
your manual. The information found in this file overrides your formally
documented material.

1. IEEE 1394 IIDC with MIL/MIL-Lite.

   1.1 What’s new.

1.1.1 Differences between MIL 10.0 and MIL 9.0 Update 19.

         - Support for Microsoft® Windows® 8.

1.1.2 Differences between MIL 9.0 Update 19 and MIL 9.0.

         - Enables use of Microsoft Windows 7 1394 bus driver.
This new driver supports higher speeds as defined in the IEEE-
           1394b specification including S800.

In order to use this 1394 bus driver, start Windows Device Manager
and select: IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers, 1394 OHCI Compliant Host
Controller, Update Driver Software, Browse my computer for driver
software, Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer,
           "1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller".

         - Added support of IIDC 1.32 compatible cameras.

   1.2 Limitations and particularities.

      - Because the Microsoft driver does not generate Windows Messages for the
start of a grab, the Matrox driver must simulate these events. As a
consequence, for some triggered grabs, one may see M_GRAB_START and
M_GRAB_FRAME_START before a trigger signal has been issued.

2. IEEE 1394a/b adaptors under Windows XP Service Pack 2 or 3.

Users may experience performance issues under Microsoft Windows XP
SP2 or SP3. The bug and resolution are described in the Microsoft
Knowledge Base (KB) articles number 885222 and 955408. For more
information and to download the update, refer to
   http://support.microsoft.com/kb/885222 and
   http://support.microsoft.com/kb/955408.

By default, the maximum bus speed allowable by the Microsoft drivers
provided with Windows XP's SP2/SP3 is S400. In order to achieve S800,
IEEE 1394b users are required to also rollback the Microsoft 1394bus.sys
driver from SP2/SP3 to SP1a. The "Enabling IEEE 1394b S800 mode under
Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or 3" product notice outlines the
procedure required to roll back this driver as well as that handled by
KB885222. This product notice can be found in the Mil help file.

3. Supported operating systems.

This section lists all the supported operating systems.
   - 32-bit Windows® XP
   - 32-bit Windows® 7
   - 64-bit Windows® 7
   - 32-bit Windows® 8
   - 64-bit Windows® 8

4. Location of examples (in the help file)

   - In the help file, the location information written at the top of examples
might not be up-to-date. Use MIL Example Launcher to find an example
     on disk.
