The Matrox 4Sight GPm unit is a MIL-supported, self-contained unit (computer) that integrates image capture, storage, processing and display, along with general purpose input/output (I/O) and standard 10/100/1000 BaseT Ethernet interfacing capabilities. Matrox 4Sight GPm has mSATA (mini SATA) and mini PCIe connectors on the motherboard to provide additional mass storage or WiFi connectivity to your unit.

This chapter outlines basic features of Matrox 4Sight GPm, and relates them to specific functions in MIL.

Display capabilities

For display purposes, Matrox 4Sight GPm uses an integrated Intel PCH graphics controller chipset that allows connection to a high-resolution analog display device (such as an analog monitor or analog flat panel) and a digital display device (such as a digital flat-panel display) or two digital display devices. In addition, the Intel integrated graphics controller supports 32-bit (true-color) non-destructive graphics overlay onto live video, for a completely true-color display.

I/O command list

Matrox 4Sight GPm also has two I/O command lists that can be used with the auxiliary signals. An I/O command list allows you to schedule commands to change the state of a bit of an I/O command register at a specified time or counter value. You can route the state of the bit, for example, to an auxiliary output signal to control a connected device at a required moment.

Auxiliary I/O interface

Matrox 4Sight GPm has 16 auxiliary signals (8 inputs and 8 outputs) through the auxiliary I/O interface. All 8 auxiliary input signals support user input or quadrature input and have interrupt-generation capabilities. All 8 auxiliary output signals support user output, timer output, or outputting the state of an I/O command register bit.

Your application can also poll any of the auxiliary I/O signals to determine their state.
