The Matrox Vio family consists of two x4 PCIe members: Matrox Vio Analog and Matrox Vio Duo. Matrox Vio Analog is a frame grabber capable of acquiring and displaying only standard definition (SD) or high definition (HD) analog video. Matrox Vio Duo is a frame grabber capable of acquiring and displaying SD or HD analog or digital video.

Acquisition features

Matrox Vio Analog and Matrox Vio Duo can acquire data from only one video source at a time; however, you can attach several video sources and switch between them. To both Matrox Vio Analog and Matrox Vio Duo, you can attach up to two analog (one CVBS and one RGB/YPrPb/YC) video sources. To Matrox Vio Duo, you can also attach two digital video sources.

Display features

Matrox Vio Duo can output video to an auxiliary analog display device, an auxiliary digital display device, or to both simultaneously. Although the board allows for simultaneous analog and digital display, the same information is sent to both outputs. Matrox Vio Analog can only output video to an auxiliary analog display device.

Note, the display section of Matrox Vio Duo can only output auxiliary displays.

In both analog mode (available on Matrox Vio Analog and Duo) and digital mode (available on Matrox Vio Duo), video is output to the display at the original acquisition resolution; the format can change as long as the resolution is the same.

Besides outputting acquired video, Matrox Vio Duo can also output static images from on-board memory. This feature is not available on Matrox Vio Analog.

Matrox Vio Duo and Analog are capable of dynamically overlaying an image over images that are being displayed. The overlay image can be static or dynamic (different for every frame of the underlay image).

Other features

Matrox Vio can be used as a hardware fingerprint for MIL runtime licenses.
