Matrox 4Sight GP overview

The Matrox 4Sight GP unit is a MIL-supported, self-contained unit (computer) that integrates image capture, storage, processing and display, along with general purpose input/output (I/O) and standard 10/100/1000BaseT Ethernet interfacing capabilities. Matrox 4Sight GP also supports add-on boards compliant with the full-height, half-length PCIe form factor.

This chapter outlines basic features of the Matrox 4Sight GP unit, and relates them to specific functions in MIL.

Display capabilities

For display purposes, Matrox 4Sight GP uses an integrated Intel PCH graphics controller chipset that allows connection to a high-resolution analog display device (such as an analog monitor or analog flat panel) and a digital display device (such as a digital flat-panel display) or two digital display devices. In addition, the Intel integrated graphics controller supports 32-bit (true-color) non-destructive graphics overlay onto live video, for a completely true-color display.

Matrox 4Sight GP can output RGB, with resolutions equal to that of your Windows desktop, on either its analog and its DVI-D connectors. For more details on connecting devices to the video output controllers of your Matrox 4Sight GP, refer to the Matrox 4Sight GP Installation and Hardware reference manual.

Frame grabbers

Matrox 4Sight GP supports two full-height, half-length x1, x4, or x8 PCIe format boards. If you connect two boards, you can simultaneously grab images from video sources attached to both boards.

Auxiliary I/O interface

Matrox 4Sight GP has 32 auxiliary signals (16 inputs and 16 outputs) through the auxiliary I/O interface. All 16 auxiliary input signals support user input and have interrupt-generation capabilities. All 16 auxiliary output signals support user output.

Your application can also poll any of the auxiliary I/O signals to determine their state.

For details on the auxiliary I/O interface, refer to the Matrox 4Sight GP Installation and Hardware reference manual.
